We have been doing this for over 20 years on projects involving renewable energy, infrastructure, industry, urban planning, and water resource development throughout Spain. <\/p><p>An environmental impact assessment is a preventive procedure: it serves to identify a project\u2019s effects before it is implemented and to determine how to avoid, reduce, or offset them. Over the years, we have developed our own methodology for assessing impacts, which allows us to support each conclusion before the environmental agency with field data. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3394c95 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3394c95\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-234405e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"234405e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">When does a project require an environmental impact assessment?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-66f8b9c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"66f8b9c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Law 21\/2013 on environmental assessment<\/strong> and the regional regulations implementing it specify which projects must undergo an environmental assessment before receiving substantive authorization. Projects listed in Annex I undergo the standard assessment, while those in Annex II undergo the simplified assessment. Next, the <strong>environmental impact study<\/strong> is drafted and made available for public review for at least 30 business days, and the affected government agencies are consulted.
