Law 9\/2018 of December 9, 2018, amending (among others) Law 21\/2013 of December 9, 2013, on environmental assessment, includes the need to assess the vulnerability of a given project, specifically defining this as \u201cthe physical characteristics of a project that may have an impact on the possible significant adverse effects on the environment that may occur as a result of a major accident or catastrophe\u201d.<\/p>

The work developed presents a specific methodology for its assessment, which is based on the following sequential phases:<\/p>

1.<\/strong> The analysis of the risks identified in the area of implantation considered (risks of forest fires, floods, seismic risks, slope instability, etc.) as well as the susceptibility and danger of these risks in the area under study.<\/p>

2. <\/strong>The analysis of the environmental risks associated with a given project.<\/p>

The interrelation of the data obtained in the two previous phases will make it possible to conclude whether the characteristics of the projected facilities or the activity subsequently developed will have implications on the pre-existing risks in the area (increase in risk or in the susceptibility of the environment to risk) or whether they will generate new situations that are potentially dangerous for the environment or for people.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
