From May 6 to 8Toledo will host a new edition of the National Congress on Environmental Impact Assessment (CONEIA), one of the main meeting places for professionals, administrations, companies, universities and organizations involved in environmental assessment.one of the main meeting places for professionals, administrations, companies, universities and entities related to environmental assessment.
From TAXUS ENVIRONMENT will actively participate in this edition with a team formed by Cris Cardín, Eloy Montes, Fran Martínez, Álvaro Fueyo, María González and Javier Granerowho will attend the congress to share technical knowledge, present new methodologies and participate in debates on some of the great current challenges of environmental assessment.
Our presence in CONEIA responds to a way of understanding environmental consulting based on rigor, innovation and knowledge transfer. For TAXUS, this congress is not only a professional event: it is an opportunity to compare experiences, discuss with other teams and continue to promote a more preventive, useful and connected to the reality of projects environmental assessment.
Eight technical posters to share experience and applied innovation
In this edition we present eight technical posters that gather part of the work developed by different areas of TAXUS in the last years. The topics reflect the diversity of our activity and our interest in improving methodologies applied to environmental assessment.
The posters address issues such as:
- The application of nonparametric statistics to evaluate representativeness and biological seasonality in avifauna studies.
- The determination of the environmental minimum volume in reservoirs as a as a management tool.
- The remote monitoring of ichthyofauna by means of artificial vision in infrastructures of passage.
- The improvement of spatial sensitivity and vulnerability indices in the environmental assessment of wind projects.
- Methodological challenges in the acoustic assessment of chiropterans in regions with a literature gap.
- The comparison of activity patterns of protected chiropterans at altitude of protected chiropterans in pre-operational studies and operating wind farms.
- The Project TECH-4-BIRDSbased on artificial vision and artificial intelligence to reduce bird mortality in wind farms.
- The design of informative and didactic materials to bring environmental impact studies closer to the population.
This selection of papers shows how environmental assessment advances when it combines field experience, data analysis, new technologies and communication skills.
Two oral communications: metabarcoding and remote monitoring of water quality.
In addition to the posters, TAXUS will present two oral communications during the congress.
On the one hand, Álvaro Fueyohead of the Environmental Genetics Laboratory of TAXUS, will intervene on Wednesday with a communication about metabarcoding applied to environmental assessmenta line of work increasingly relevant for the analysis of biodiversity and monitoring of ecosystems using molecular tools.
On the other hand, Javier Granero, managing partner of TAXUS, will present on Thursday a paper on the project DAMTAQfocused on remote monitoring of water quality in reservoirs. This type of project reflects TAXUS’ commitment to integrate technology, data and ecological knowledge to improve environmental management.
A panel of experts on Natural Capital, TNFD and risk management
One of the highlights of TAXUS’ participation in CONEIA will be the panel of experts:
“From Environmental Impact Assessment to TNFD: incorporating Natural Capital in risk management.”
The panel will be held on Thursday, May 7, from 12:00 to 13:30 h, in Room El Greco Dand will address one of the most relevant debates for the future of environmental practice: how to move from an approach focused mainly on the impacts of projects to a corporate model capable of integrating dependencies, risks and opportunities linked to nature..
In a context in which biodiversity and ecosystem services have become critical variables for economic stability, Natural Capital has become a key driver of economic growth. Natural Capital is no longer just a technical concept but a central element of corporate governance, strategic planning and risk management.
The panel will include the participation of leading professionals:
- Fernando RodríguezProfessor of Applied Economics at the University of Salamanca University of Salamanca.
- Ana Álvarez Arias de VelascoDirector of Environment Iberia at EDP.
- Jesús CarrascoGlobal Head of Biodiversity, Environment, Quality and Innovation Division, Iberdrola, Spain Iberdrola.
- Nieves Cifuentes ValeroHead of Corporate Environment at Naturgy.
The conversation will share real experiences, challenges and practical approaches to incorporating Natural Capital into business models and business decision making.
Javier Granero will also participate as AEEIA representative.
In addition to coordinating this panel and presenting a technical communication, Javier Granero will participate on Wednesday in another panel of experts as a representative of the Spanish Association for Spanish Association of Environmental Impact Assessment (AEEIA) and head of the environmental consulting and head of the environmental consultancy working group.
This participation reinforces the role of TAXUS in the spaces of technical reflection on the present and future of environmental consulting, especially at a time when environmental impact assessment must respond to increasingly complex challenges: energy transition, biodiversity, climate change, cumulative risks, digitalization and new social demands.
Environmental assessment for better anticipation, dialogue and decision making
TAXUS’ participation in CONEIA 2026 sums up well our way of working: to combine technical know-how, applied innovation, field work, advanced tools y dialogue capabilities..
Environmental assessment is a key tool for anticipating impacts, improving projects and making more informed decisions. But it is also a meeting point for science, business, government and society.
Therefore, we will be in Toledo with a lot of work to share, many pending conversations and the conviction that the great environmental challenges require increasingly solid methodologies, better interpreted data and a broader vision of the territory and Natural Capital.
See you at CONEIA 2026.
