Hydroacoustics
Non-extractive evaluation of fish stocks
In hydroacoustics projects, TAXUS uses the most advanced technology for the study of fish populations. We use acoustic methods through state-of-the-art digital scientific echo sounders, together with specific software for the processing, filtering, evaluation and classification of the data obtained.
This methodology is based on objective and direct sampling, since fish measurements are taken in real time during the survey, and the data are immediately analyzed by means of specific programs. Thus, an accurate and detailed evaluation of the study area is obtained.
Why is hydroacoustics effective?
Hydroacoustics is a non-extractive method, which does not affect the fish and does not require catches. Unlike other methods such as nets, traps, electric fishing or mark and recapture, this non-invasive system allows obtaining reliable information with greater efficiency, especially useful for medium and long-term sampling campaigns.
