Marine mammals play a key role in most marine ecosystems. However, they are globally threatened by different anthropogenic pressures. The main impacts include activities derived from maritime traffic, among which mortality caused by collisions with large medium- and high-speed vessels stands out.

The objective of the present work was to develop and suggest a series of recommendations to minimize the potential collision risk to cetacean populations potentially affected by four shipping traffic routes departing from major ports on the west coast of India.
