Preliminary characterization of the presence and abundance of cyanobacteria in the lagoon of Isabel la Católica Park. Analysis and development of early warning indicators

Due to the episodes of phytoplankton proliferation observed in the lagoons of Isabel La Católica Park, a study was carried out to characterize the community of the aforementioned primary producers, with special attention to the possible presence of cyanobacteria, as well as various physicochemical, chemical and hydromorphological parameters.

After the analysis of the data obtained in the field, together with the analysis of the parameters recorded continuously by different probes installed in the lagoons and after an exhaustive bibliographic compilation, a series of recommendations were established to prevent such blooms and early warning indicators adapted to the ecosystem under study were defined.
